DIY STEP BY STEP PROCESS: UK TIER 2 DEPENDENT PARTNER VISA (UNMARRIED)

If you are a filipino nurse under UK Tier 2 Dependent Visa / Health and Care Visa, and wants to bring your partner to the UK,

or

If you wish to join your partner who works as a nurse in the UK, then this blog post might be helpful for you.

My partner (we are not married) have just recently received his dependent partner visa and is now preparing for his flight to UK. I would like to share as much information as I can on how we prepared for the visa processing. There are some agencies that offer to assist in the visa application but their service can be a bit expensive depending on how complicated your case is. If you don't want to spend money on agencies, then maybe DIY is the right option for you.

* Dependent - A dependant partner or child is any of the following: your husband, wife, civil partner or unmarried partner

* SponsorA sponsor is the person inviting the applicant to visit the UK.

You must prove your relationship to your dependent in order for your application to be successful.

A dependant partner or child is any of the following:
  • your husband, wife, civil partner or unmarried partner
  • your child under 18 - including if they were born in the UK during your stay
  • your child over 18 if they’re currently in the UK as your dependant

You’ll need to provide evidence of your relationship when you apply.

You must be able to prove that either:

  • you’re in a civil partnership or marriage that’s recognised in the UK
  • you’ve been living together in a relationship for at least 2 years when you apply
Once you have checked the criteria and confirmed that you are qualified to apply your dependent, then you can start preparing for the application.

The Preparation:

The first step that you are going to do is to gather all the necessary documents you need in the application.

The Documents to Prepare:

Here are the list of documents (but not limited to) that you can prepare:

Dependent:

πŸ”ΉPassport

πŸ”ΉNBI

πŸ”ΉIOM Certificate (TB Certificate)  πŸ‘‰ How To Book IOM Appointment

πŸ”ΉCenomar

πŸ”ΉCOE

πŸ”ΉBirth Certificate

Sponsor:

πŸ”ΈLetter of Invitation

πŸ”ΈHospital Badge or Company ID

πŸ”ΈPassport (Bio Page)

πŸ”ΈVignette (Visa Page on your passport)

πŸ”ΈBiometric Residence Permit (BRP)

πŸ”ΈCertificate of Sponsorship (COS) - 'A' Rated Sponsor

πŸ”ΈBirth Certificate

πŸ”ΈCertificate of Employment

πŸ”ΈMaintenance Letter for dependent (Requested from HR)

If you are married, a marriage certificate is most of the time enough proof of your relationship. UK requires atleast two years of cohabitation (living together) if you are NOT married with your partner.

Here are the list of documents (but not limited to) to support your cohabitation/ relationship if you are NOT married:

▫️Online delivery receipts, letters, medical certificates or any document showing address of cohabitation. Atleast 2-3 proofs per year for each. (Sponsor & Dependent)

▫️Electricity, Water, internet or bank statement under dependent or sponsor's name (or both) showing address of cohabitation

▫️Joint Account Statement with both names and the address of cohabitation (If avail)

Additional Proof of Relationship:

▫️Pictures together

▫️Screenshot of convos

◽️Vidcall screenshots

◽️ Barangay Certificate of Cohabitation

◽️Affidavit of Cohabitation (Notarized)

Once you have your documents ready, the dependent (or sponsor) can set up an account and start the application process at gov.uk (https://www.gov.uk/health-care-worker-visa/your-partner-and-children). After filling out online application on the website and once after the visa payment has been processed, the site would lead the applicant to the VFS page where a face to face Biometrics appointment for dependent needs to be booked. This is also the time when the documents that you have prepared needs to be uploaded if you wish to self-upload. However, your dependent can also opt to have them printed in A4 size paper, bring it during the biometrics appointment and VFS staff can have them scanned for a certain fee.

Decision can take up to 8 weeks after Biometrics. In our case, my dependent received his visa exactly 8 business days since biometrics, that was just less than 2 weeks.

Disclaimer:

Please note that you can submit any evidence that you think will help with your application. It also helps to do proper research to see what other documents you can provide for a greater chance of being granted a visa.
